In the meantime, I am kept busy by doing the crap ton of homework I have left before break! But because I took awesome classes this year, this means that my projects consist of comparing the Ministry of Magic's actions in Order and Half-Blood to those undertaken by fascists governments; and sketching out scenes for my group project for Victorian Art and Culture where we are making a steampunk graphic novel on child labor in the 1800s.
I just started sketching the scene where the child laborer falls into the giant machine and, in essence, into the rabbit hole to talk to other child laborers. He'll wake up after the Reform Laws are passed ;)
My desk looks pretty crazy right now, covered in pop cans and article -- this is a good time to mention that mom and dad have officially turned "Aaron's old room" into an office, and mom is ever busy turning it into "the antique travel room". Yup, maps, old photos of trains, old travel brochures, old suitcases -- she's just SO CREATIVE! She even bought an old record player and we've been traipsing around to scratchy renditions of the My Fair Lady "soundtrack" -- I can't wait to see the room when it's done!
So this is crunch time folks, right before two weeks preparing for finals! Yikes!
So tell me, what is driving everyone else nuts about finals? And for those with out finals, what is the driving concern for you for the next two weeks?
In the meantime, please enjoy this stellar video. Yes, yes it's dubstep, but the reason I put it up is because I enjoy this song AND because you MUST watch the video!!! Also, for those of you who don't like dubstep, you might feel like this man when you watch it so you can at least sympathize
Enjoy!
I am so jealous of your projects. They sound really fun and interesting in comparison to mine. I worked yesterday.
ReplyDeleteSounds like your house is all kinds of crazy, but Sarah will be back soon (hug her for me please).
Finals are going to be the death of me, but I will prevail. At least, I hope so.
I'll watch the video once I am not awkwardly sitting in the middle of my parents' apartment.
Man I wish I had cool Harry Potter classes. That sounds so ridiculous. Also I want to see the travel room so badddd. Post pictures on here!
ReplyDeleteAs for worries... I guess I am worried about my Applied Economics final. I am going to get a B in that class :C
Also I have this gigantic portfolio due Wednesday for Entrepreneurship that I was supposed to be doing over break, but... Oh well.
Finally, I refuse to watch that video because I hate Skrillex with the fiery passion of 1,000 suns.
I am fairly certain all of my teachers conspired to have all their major projects due the same week, some even on the same day. I am currently working on my Creative Writing portfolio (separate from the novel project) and mourning the fact that Adobe InDesign will forever be outside my budget. How am I supposed to make things pretty without it!? I can't go back to the less-than-stellar capabilities of MS Word after learning the joys of layout design!
ReplyDeleteBut seriously, I think MS Office in general is on the way out. Well, PowerPoint at any rate, and any of its non-MS equivalents out there. So many professors loathe and detest PowerPoint these days, at least so far as my own go, and I can't really blame them. One of my teachers has recently espoused a sort of web-based presentation that is pretty rad, and hopefully I will be able to utilize such things next semester when I FINALLY get to learn web design.
EXCITEMENT.
But first I have to finish writing a novel and doing a million projects and surviving finals.
Man I wish I had Harry Potter classes! And Victorian studies! Gahh, so jealousssss. The only solution to quell my jealousy is to let me read your steampunk story and possibly a Harry Potter based essay as well.
ReplyDeleteI'm currently ignoring school work, which is probably a stupid idea, but since it's the day after Thanksgiving I feel like my obligation to eat ALL of the leftovers is more pressing than revising papers and studying for French. And anthropology. Amy, don't worry about your potential B (I bet you'll get an A), I am terrified I'm getting a C in anthro. It's a 100 level class, but the exams are absolutely ruthless. I feel so betrayed by that department, which I had previously loved.
Ah well. I hope you all had a delectable Thanksgiving! Raaaachellll I misss youuuuuu! But you will be home sometime in December, right? And then we will be reunited! And it will be glorious!
Also, Missy, I love you for this: "But first I have to finish writing a novel..." And other reasons, but seriously, you're an amazing person.
